my courses senior year were substantially more difficult than anything i had taken previously so i feel as though i should be given some slack. My second term grades so far are quite the improvement from the ones listed above as i have become used to the intense course load. However I am fearful that my first term grades will lead the admissions office to reject me. That would be terrible since i really really love Stanford as im sure a lot of people here do.

Doubt it’d be rescinded, though I have a friend who was asked by admissions to explain a drop in performance when he went from straight A’s to A’s and 3 B’s (this was his senior fall; he was admitted EA). (At first I thought he was joking, but he wasn’t – they accepted his explanation though, which was much the same as yours.)

That said, I think they’re a bit more strict with fall grades for EA students than 2nd semester senior grades. I would do my best to pull those up but I don’t seriously think it would jeopardize your admission.

It definitely seems like you could pull up a most of those by the end of the year. In fact, if you tried really hard you might be able to pull of just one or two B’s and the rest A’s; the grades don’t seem that low really.

I am just worried since this wasnt an EA acceptance but rather a likely letter so no official commitment has been made. Thanks for the response by the way guys!

If you had straight A’s before then you will definitely get a letter. I would do all I can to pull up that 79 to an 80 and the 89 to a 90. If you get C’s you might be rescinded. I don’t think you’ll get anything more than a letter for excessive b’s.
