Likely living alone in 2nd year or with people who I'm not friends with

Hey,

All of my good friends have their houses set up and they did it a few months ago. I couldn’t commit because I didn’t know if I was going back to this program and I didn’t want to sign a payment and then back out because i switched schools. Well, I decided to come back and I assumed that people would still be looking for people for houses in January and everyone’s house is full. I have a tiny chance to live with a few guys who I don’t really know well in a house near campus, I am likely able to live with a Chinese guy who I hardly know, but some of my friends said they wouldnt want to live with him in an apartment and to be honest, neither do I.
I’ve been asking my friends what I should do and they seem to not have any answers for me. All their houses are full and I’ve been screwed for next year. I can afford to live alone/find a roommate, but I know I wouldn’t be happy living with new people. I am as happy as I can be living in residence with my friends all around me and different people to hang out with every night. I feel like I’m going to lose social connections if I live alone and I will get lonely.

Have any of you guys lived alone? How can I see the bright side here? I really like being around people and I tend to get comfortable being on my own for too long. I am socially lazy and if people aren’t around me, I’ll have trouble keeping in touch.

What should I do???

im a guy btw, but thanks lol

It’s a personal preference, but after living with 3 different randoms I can say that I’d rather live alone than with people I don’t know. I’ve had some awful roommates in the past… While my current roommie is pretty chill, she can kind of get in the way sometimes when I want to, say, keep the lights on past midnight or take a shower at a specific time. Many little inconveniences that aren’t made up for since we’re not the best of friends. If I could afford my own place I would totally stock it with snacks and invite people over all the time for study sessions, TV shows, whatever. I wouldn’t get lonely, in fact, I would love to have the convenience of being alone when I want to be alone.
