It seems like a lot of kids on CC are getting “your interview was very strong” or “your application impressed us” letters, if not straight-up early acceptances from colleges they didn’t even apply EA or ED. I haven’t heard anything from my RD schools, and I’m worried that this means I’m going to get a whole bunch of NOs (Keep in mind my schools are LACs, so they can afford to reach out to candidates because of smaller application pools.)

So, CC Gods, am I freaking out unnecessarily, or should I be worried come April 1?

The “likely letters” are only sent out to a tiny portion of applicants- the very, very top of the pack, recruited athletes, etc. A lot of kids get accepted without receiving them, don’t worry. (Also, some schools don’t send any.)

Many colleges send out admissions in “waves”; some may have gone out already, some not. Some colleges have started sending letters; some may wait until March 31 to send them.

Not having gotten a letter to date means absolutely nothing. It doesn’t mean that you’re going to get rejections. The “waves” include admissions, rejections, and wait-lists.

And you may just have applied to schools that don’t send out “waves.” It’s only a few more weeks. Try to be patient.
