<p>Interesting article - I wonder if the student asked Vanderbilt to revise her 2014-2015 aid after her new custodial parent (dad) lost his job this year.</p>

<p>From reading these boards it seems to be common for schools to wait to see how long it takes to get a new job.</p>

<p>Crowd funding seems to be pretty common these days and not only in times of trial. My D had 3 friends go this route this year. One girl was looking for 2K and made her goal. The other 2 were looking for 25K and neither made more than a few hundred dollars. I’m sure circumstances change who will contribute. Personally, I think this sort of situation is a good reason to try crowd funding. I don’t really love kids using it to go to colleges they totally can’t afford (and for which they will have to continue crowd funding for years to keep attending.)</p>
