List of candidates for class 2010

Maybe that was last year…or a small joke…

For all of you who were wondering when that really tiny Annapolis trailer would get bigger, you can find it at www.apple.com/quicktime/trailers there is also a High Def version

Rosa

Wow I think that “Bancroft” looks more like Monticello than the real deal.

Fifty thousand applied. . . .

and the guy is called a “first year recruit”

shows what the script writers really knew, eh???

not to mention that you don’t go to a senator for a nomination. especially not thirty four straight days.

as i heard it, usna was going to allow filming of the movie on the yard until the script was so radically different from reality, that they said change the script or film somewhere else. I believe they filmed in PA somewhere.

yep - it sure aint Bancroft Hall those mids are standing in front of!!!

yah it was filmed in philly at that huge art museum where rocky climbed the steps!

I’ll be real curious to see if applications are up next year due to this movie…and if in the long run it’s more of a headache for the system than it’s worth…meaning kids would start an app because of the ‘cool Annapolis movie’ rather than a real desire to serve their country as a Naval/Marine Officer.

I seriously doubt it, it looks like it will prove to be a major box office flop. i think the only income will be from mids who need a laugh or candidates.

While the movie may spark some initial interest, can’t help but feel the application process will do it’s job (if not the pile of paperwork, then the Admissions Board for sure!) in sorting out desire and motivation- from another perspective, there are lots of things that bring kids to the academy to “take a look”… the movie might just be one of them… but catching the bug is a whole other story! Who knows- maybe the film might spark some interest in a kid that never considered the academy or the Navy! Rumor has it the movie does not accurately reflect USNA life- which is a shame- now that would be something worth going to see!
