List of good safety schools with liberal FA & outdoor experiences?

decent average SAT scores
academically challenging
several outdoor experiences…</p>

<p>Which of these schools are considered a safety for me? Can you classify each of them as reach, low reach, match, safety, etc… and my chances for admission and FA? ( applying for Junior year )</p>

FVS
Asheville School
Proctor Academy</p>

<p>Pomfret
Westtown
Williston Northampton School
Kimball Union Academy
Kent School</p>

<p>Stats? I guess are normal.</p>

<p>Pretty good GPA above 3.8</p>

<p>Honors lit/history, Chemistry, Algebra II</p>

<p>Last year SSAT score average was 68%… but I didn’t have adequate time to study!</p>

<p>My son applied to schools last year – he had a very similiar profile and needed significant FA, although he was applying for 9th grade.</p>

<p>His GPA/ssat were almost the same – also wanted outdoor experiences.</p>

<p>He applied to: NMH, Putney, Proctor, SPS, Conserve, Midland, FVS, Colorado Rocky Mountain School. </p>

<p>I would cross Proctor off the list unless you only need a small amount of FA – they don’t have the endowment to offer significant FA and were upfront about that in the letter he received.</p>

<p>I would definitely keep NMH, FVS and Asheville on the list. FA was great at NMH, he was accepted at FVS but the FA was just ok (if you are from out of state, it should be better for you – my son was local, looking to board). He did not apply to Asheville, but we did reseach it and have heard very good things.</p>

<p>I don’t know about the other schools – but also take a look at Midland, Putney and Conserve. FA was excellent at all three schools for my son and all offer solid academics and great outdoor experiences. You might also take a look at Culver.</p>

<p>Thank you so much, I like all the schools you suggested, esp. Conserve. I liked their introductory and emphasis on outside learning; I liked the working labor part of it too.
If you hadn’t suggested the schools, I wouldn’t have bothered to look at them. Thank you</p>
