What do you mean by professional? There are a ton of Greek organizations that lie on the service - professional - academic line.

For professional fraternities, the two that are really most involved around campus and have the most activities are the business fraternities, Delta Sigma Pi and Alpha Kappa Psi. As for the other professional fraternities, there’s basically one for every major + a few more. For the ones I can name off the top of my head, Alpha Chi Sigma for Chemistry, Psi Chi for Psychology, and Alpha Epsilon Delta for Pre-med, and maybe Lamda Sigma - Sophomore Honorary. I wish I could tell you more but most of these professional fraternities do not have a huge presence on campus and stay within their own departments.

I am in a fraternity in Greek life (e.g. social fraternities) so if you have any questions about that in general. If you have questions about specific fraternities, I believe it would be naive to describe fraternities in broad generalizations (i.e. an (insert adjective) fraternity). Fraternities are groups of approximately 40-70 guys who have extremely broad interests and traits. However, fraternities usually gain a good/bad reputation by those who are more involved and outgoing and unfortunately, by those who are loudest and most obnoxious. Take any broad generalizations you hear about fraternities with a grain of salt. Even if they are correct to a certain degree, they are usually only describing a very small portion of the fraternity.

My suggestion - go to the rush events this fall (if you’re a sophomore +) or the events this spring (freshman +) and see which group you believe you could join and even if Greek life is a good fit for you. They are all events in the beginning of the semester and I think if you bring someone else along you know, who doesn’t have fun at free events like demoball, skyzone, laser tag, and paintballing?
