I am applying to Cornell’s ILR for the fall of 2011 (planning way ahead). I think I have a shot, ILR expects transfers to have at least a 3.6 I have a 3.79, my hs transcript is fairly poor, but since I am applying for junior standing I hope they will notice the constant improvements I’ve made since high school.

The one thing I don’t have alot of are ECs, I have done some independent research, member of phi theta kappa, political science club, and a full time job. I am a member of two organizations that I actively participate in (go to chapter meetings and various other events), however the organizations might be viewed as “controversial.” They are NORML (National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws) and the NRA (National Rifle Assocaiton). NORML is very active politically which is helpful, but should I list these as ECs, or will they hurt me?
