Listing SAT Scores on UC application

My son has taken the SAT twice with very different subscores (although similar total). I called admissions to get advice as to which score to list, given that the application says to list the highest composite score. [The concern is that, for the first sitting, he pretty much matches the averages of admitted students in all three areas; in the second sitting, he looks quite good in Math and Writing, but poor in Reading, compared to admitted students. The second actually actually has the higher composite, by 10 points.]
The admissions counselor said that the application should allow for both sets of scores to be entered. My son says there is only an option to list the highest composite score.

What is the case? And do you think a low score in one area would override a higher composite?

Your son is going to have to get collegeboard to send out an official score report to all the schools he’s applying to. So even though there may only be 1 spot for sat scores on the application, all colleges will see every sat score and subscore since the score reports that are sent out show all attempts.

One would think that’s the case. Unfortunately, it may not be true for the large public universities. One admission counselor at another university told us that, in truth, she only sees the highest score, despite the fact that they require all scores to be sent. I think she must receive a summary sheet, or goes by the highest score the applicant lists on the application.
