Who else took literature just now?!

I took it today as well. There was a question from the Milton reading about books that I was unsure about. It asked about which technique was not used in the passage. Also the poem about the two lovers being separated in the city and country, which one did not happen in the poem?

I think I wrote that he didn’t say that country life is always better… but that was a question that took me a while too haha. I can’t remember what I put for the Milton thing > < For the appearances passage did you say the alcohol was burning on his hand ;;

yeah, he dipped his hand into the alcohol which gave it a temporary ethereal appearance.

wait wait omg what did the “And loves you best of all things – but his horse.” line mean

doodlecat
i chose the answer that said he was boorish…

What was the theme of the whole poem about? country/city or joy/sadness?

great me too hehe! i think i put country vs city… I think it’s definitely not male vs female

guys, I got the same answers too.
country v. city, boorish, etc… I didn’t think it was too hard
what do you guys usually get? I took the Kaplan 2013-2014 book and I got around ~700. I really hope I get 750+
AND WHY ARE THERE SO FEW PEOPLE COMMENTING ON THIS.

I know I got one wrong… the one where it was like, what was covering his hand or something. I put blood because that’s what i percieved it to be at first. but there’s no way since he unconciously glanced at the mirror and he was fine, so it wouldn’t have had that big of a physical impact on him. That was the only one I was iffy about though… Also, I put antithetical something something for the same passage.

oh, and you should move this thread to the sat SUBJECT preparation, OP. this isn’t the sat I

hahaha im so bad at cc how do you move it?! ;; I put ethereal for that one and also I didn’t prep at all ;3

I don’t think there was ‘ethereal’ for that answer, though? It was asking for what was employed during the passage. Either the antithetical statements, a parody of Charles or something. And I’m not sure either, LOL

On the topic of the mirror, I believe I put that the purpose of the mirror was to show the character that his injury would not have a profound difference on his life. After all, the story seemed to have an overarching theme of mind over appearance…

Either that, or I totally misunderstood.

I also didn’t prep, and from the answers we’ve discussed, I’ve tended to agree with all of them.

I thought all of the passages were fairly easy with the exception of one which I thought was fairly hard. I made it to the end with about 7 minutes left, and I looked back to find 5 questions blank–all from the same section. I eventually trudged through them, and I think in the end I thought I had them right. To tell you the truth, I’ve forgotten about them in the last 36 hours…

i put that the purpose of looking at the mirror meant he didn’t fully come to terms with his situation yet? I don’t think it would be a profound difference… how was that supported by the text?
personally, i put my answer because the text said it was a ‘sudden, unconcious glance at the mirror’. i’m probably wrong lol

Yeah @JuniorBengal , I sort of have to disagree on you with that. I thought the text was on false appearances. How everyone is saying that the ‘mind is more important’, but in reality, their conversations and dinner was extremely superficial, and people cared about looks more than anything, making it appearances over mind. There was even a line where it said something about the dinner appearing fake. and it was a question, too? What does X line mean, and one of the answers was that it was fake? Or maybe I misunderstood it completely?? LOL?

@Yals79 If the theme of the text says that the mind is more important than the physical, then it would make sense for the character to realize that his injury is not really important. This is supported by how he seems to casually go along and continue the dinner conversation almost as nothing happened and just “sunk” back into the chair.

I suppose either of us could be right or wrong. No way to know sometimes with Lit.

Also, on the topic of one of the other questions being discussed, I too put “ethereal” for that question.

I’m going to stop replying now LOL. i don’t want the sat to come after me.

yesss I put the fake thing too. omg I want 700+ :’(

omg OP, you said the dinner was fake too? i love you. also, what was the ethereal question? i swear it was antithetical
and I don’t remember seeing ethereal. did you see ‘a parody of a character’ when you put in ethereal?

haha love you too! ethereal was a different question, asking what the phrase about his hand meant. the parody and antithetical thing I don’t remember what I put… im probably wrong because I didn’t put either of those answers.
