the eagles just traded spots. now the new sitter is tidying up the nest!

I was wondering what was going on. I just clicked on and the Eagle was pretty active!

Yup. The eggs are still there.

He/ she looks pretty cold. I am glad it made the nest a little fluffier.

I’ve wasted way too much time over the past week watching the red-tailed hawks at the Franklin Institute nest in Philadelphia JHS mentioned. Truly amazing to be able to observe this up-close.

It is really windy today…

The Eagle is facing the camera again!

http://www.hornbyeagles.com/webcam.htm

It rearranged the eggs and turned around…opps

Poor thing, the wind is blowing her/him all over. She/he doesn’t look too delighted. There are nearly 900 voyeurs…that is a lot.

This is funny, why are we filming the birds live?

It is almost dark, and she ( I think it is the mom) is trying to lay her head down for some rest amongst all the wind. I sent the link to my D who then in turn sent it to friends. She got updates on bird movement throughout classes today. She just thinks it is just one more strange thing I have sent her, but has become addicted as well!

Can’t someone climb up and put an umbrella over that poor bird? Sure hope the chicks don’t hatch in the rain!

Ohhh, it’s begun to rain. I watched the bird (Mama? Papa?) turn away (toward the camera) and hunker down. I felt bad. Then I think about the hummingbirds that nested in my tree and how resilient they were when the winds kicked up to 40mph. He/she is taking very good care of those eggs. I watched as he/she tucked them deep underneath his/her body after turning around, using their beak to help. It was very tender and sweet. Hope I don’t miss the hatching while I’m asleep.

It may be my imagination, but I still have the sound on, and either mom/dad makes cute little sounds, or maybe there are some little ones now in the nest.

Might just be the sounds of the forest at night/early morning. I’ve been wondering if eggs hatch at night or if they wait until daylight. I know its a long process.

I’m definitely addicted to watching the eagles!

She/he just flew off the nest (its finally light enough to see) and the two eggs haven’t hatched yet.

I doesn’t look as windy today. :)

Mama was just squawking about something. Sounded like me when I’m yelling at my kids. Don’t think that’s what it was. I wonder what she needs?

Boy, they’re busy with home improvement today.

I too noticed a lot of extra “tidying” up of the nest this morning. I’m so glad I didn’t miss anything. Although as a kid I recall going to the bird hatchery and it literally being hours before the chicks were out of their eggs. Still, I can’t view at work either and want to see!

I wonder if they really are “nesting”!! Darn work, I still can’t watch. I sent my mom (who is retired) the link. I’ll have to call her now and ask “how are my eagles doing?”

Post again when this is converted into a time lapse and all this footage is condensed into a 3-5 minute movie.
