Living in an efficiency as a transfer student?

Does anyone have any experience living in an efficiency/studio apartment as a transfer student? I realized I could afford a decent efficiency very close to my classes, and the building has a fitness center in it which would be really really nice, since most my classes are on the opposite end of campus for the school’s rec center. I’ll also be in an intense STEM major and might need a lot of time to study, so it would be nice to be guaranteed quiet. Not sure if it might be too isolating though? I’ll be a junior, 20 years old, if that matters. Thanks for any advice you might have! :)

Bump… has anyone ever lived in a studio apartment during undergrad at all, preferably junior or senior year? What were your experiences like?? Thanks =)

No experience myself, but I’ll be in a similar situation before too long. When I transfer to uni from my CC, I really don not want to go to a dorm. I’m 26, so I’m a bit older than the average dorm kid. My plan is to find an efficiency type apartment. My plans are to transfer to UIUC, and the cheapest university owned apartments happen to be right across the road from the physics and astronomy buildings ( I’m a physics major, planning to take an astrophysics concentration) so that is quite convenient for me.

The costs are a bit of a concern, but with a decent amount of work study, and well utilized financial aid money…it shouldn’t be too bad.

The need for a quiet atmosphere is one of my biggest concerns. I’m not much of a partying type, and I like my solitude. I don’t think most dorm rooms would be as conducive to that as an apartment would be.
