So basically, I e-mailed the retreat staff if I could live in my friend’s room and split the pay with him because I don’t have anywhere else to live… Everyone else in the house agreed to let me in and I was wondering if this would be allowed? I’m too impatient to wait for their response. Thanks in advance, guys.

They will not agree to it. I’m sure they rent to the maximum number of occupants their zoning allows. I imagine the legal tenants have signed a lease stating that there will be no sublets. If that is the case and they let you live there they will be breaking their contract and could be evicted along with you. (Their lease probably states how many nights a “guest” can stay with them.)
