Living in the living room

Anybody have experience with living in the living room or living with someone who occupies the living room? I was wondering how they’re often partitioned. I’ve seen people put up curtains, but I was looking for something a little better looking. I looked for companies that provide services to put up temporary interior walls and I found like 4-5, but all of them only operate in the NY/NJ area. Here’s an example: http://www.roomdividersny.com/gallery2/main.php</a>
Are there similar companies that operate in the SF area?

Any suggestions? How hard would it be to put up my own wall? Or would it be a good idea to just buy a sheet of drywall and nailed both ends into the walls?

Maybe an office supply company could provide a portable cubicle type of divider that would give the privacy you need without altering the property. Sorry, I don’t know of any temporary wall builders here. Maybe they cannot get approval to do business in CA because of our higher earthquake risk?

hmmmm my brother also had to live in the living room for a while. but he didn’t do the wall thing…he just put up a curtain…i thought it looked nice =/ how long are you going to stay there? if not for a long time, i don’t think you need to spend that much money on putting up walls.

Ikea has this very cool free standing wall unit that can act as an awesome wall divider. Put a sheet or any cheap backing on one side and the other side is actually cubes for storage. It could double as your dresser and place for all your stuff. <a href=“Products - IKEA”>Products - IKEA;

click on size and go to the largest. It’s only $149 bucks and you assemble it in the room :slight_smile: You can also buy baskets that fit in the cubes. When you move take it apart and take it with you.

this may be near you ? http://www.ikea.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/IkeaNearYouView?storeId=12&catalogId=11001&langId=-1&StoreName=west_sacramento</a></p>
