living in the townhouses?

what’s it like to live in the townhouses at Cornell? I heard the parties are way better but it’s way more secluded?
does anyone here have experience?

I lived in the townhouses last year and really enjoyed it. The ability to control to temperature of the apartment was great, as was the space and the private kitchen, bathroom, and shower. It is a 15 minute walk from central campus even in good conditions, but you are very close to RPCC and several bus stops(Tip: on cold mornings the bus will fill rapidly, so instead of using the Tennis Courts bus stop that everyone else does, use the one in the parking lot behind Townhouse A and the Community Center). The biggest downside is the general lack of interaction with other Townhouse residents. I didn’t say two words all year to the guys in one of the apartments next to us. That can be remedied by going to the numerous townhouse events and meeting people there, or finding an extracurricular activity where you can make lots of friends who share your interests. Have fun!

Just so you know, parties technically aren’t allowed in dorms. I’ve never had an experience with failed dorm parties, but I’d be very careful.

I also lived in the Townhouses last year and LOVED IT! When I found out I was going to be living in the townhouses, I tried to get out of it. I turned down a triple in Balch because that was all I could get and decided to stick it out. boy am i glad i did!
The townhouses ARE really far and ARE pretty secluded. This freaked me out during OWeek because I really struggled to make friends in my dorm. However, after about a week, I started hanging around outside in the quad (playing frisbee, tanning, etc.) and ended up meeting a ton of awesome random people! I didn’t know most of the people in my actual townhouse building, but I got to know a lot of other townhousies and we kinda became a big group. The kitchen, living room, and dining room are amazing - my house was kinda the social house so we had people over like ALL the time so it was super fun! I didn’t even get along with two of my housemates but we made it work haha. You will learn to LOVE the 81 and 82 buses! But seriously - townhouses are probably the best place to be for freshmen besides the fact that it’s not the typical dorm experiences. sophomores would LOVE them!
