Living situation next year

I’m unsure about what to do about my living situation next year.

I kinda want to live in a suite with my friends, but the problem with that (well, problems actually) is that in the dorm I would want to live in, there are 9 person suites, and to participate in the lottery to get into that dorm, you need 9 people. I’m not sure my group of people can find that. The other thing is, I’m a nursing major, so my schedule will be whack. I’ll be going to bed around 10 and getting up at like 6…so unless I got the single in the suite, there would be trouble with my roommate because they would have to deal with my ridiculous schedule. Because housing at my school is done by a lottery, even if I decide this is what I want, it won’t be for sure.

If I don’t live in a suite, then I’ll live in a traditional corridor style dorm, hopefully in a single, or at least with another nursing student who will also have my absurd schedule. If I go this route, I don’t have to deal with the housing lottery because as a nursing student, I am entitled to a room in this dorm if I want one…and this fact makes this option more desirable, because the housing lottery is super stressful, and people lose friends over it etc.

What do you think I should do?

How many people are in your group? Can you find another nursing major to room with you in the suite? That’d solve the scheduling problem AND give you an extra guy.

I’m not entirely sure…but probably 8 so we would have to find 1 more. I don’t know of any nursing girls that I would a) like rooming with and b) don’t already have plans.

Then if you don’t get a single or randomly paired up with a nursing student you’d be in trouble in the traditional style dorms too. You may be better off trying to find one more person (one of you HAS to have a friend or a friend of a friend that needs a place) and gunning for that single room in the suite due to your schedule.

The thing is, I would either get a single or paired with a nursing girl in the traditional style dorm. That’s how this deal works with nursing students, and that’s why we can avoid the lottery. There is an upperclass extension of our learning community in that dorm.
