LMU Early Application class of 2024

@amsunshine thanks - checked all email folders and don’t see it.

I didn’t get the email either

My D20 also did not receive this email. Her stats are high but must be lower than those of you who received it.

For the honors college, I’m pretty sure anyone can apply. Also, are scholarships available to Regular Decision students?

For what its worth, when my kids applied for film we were told they defer MOST film applicants…not enough time to review all the creative portfolios. Also for film schools the portfolio tends to be the deciding factor rather than the stats and ECs

We know a kid who got one last year after they were already rejected, so I think it goes to all applicants,

Stoked to be accepted to this great institution! Congratulations to all those accepted and best wishes to those deferred! Sending all the good vibrations!

My act score says waived? I sent it 2 weeks ago, but it doesn’t say received. What does that mean?

@miichael hmm - is that under Application Checklist that you see that? I looked at my daughter’s portal to see what it shows and it doesn’t show anything as waived. And for Test scores, it shows Received ACT or SAT Scores. I would call the admissions office to check what is going on.

@miichael My D was admitted and she also had “Waived” next to ACT and SAT Scores. This concerned us so she clicked to “Submit Test Scores” and enter the same score she had previously self-reported, but that new report never showed up on the portal. I think the Waived status is only because she self-reported instead of sending from the testing agency. @CAtransplant perhaps your D had the testing agency send official reports, and that’s why yours shows received? Regardless, since my D was accepted, I wouldn’t worry about that status if you are sure you at least self-reported.

My son’s also says waived and he self reported the scores on the common app, so I think @momof3co is right and it’s nothing to worry about.

Yes, my D did have the testing authority send her ACT scores so I guess it makes sense.

Anyone else keep getting the emails from LMU about top 10 reasons to attend?

@8461student Yes, I’m sure these are fairly routine and most, if not all, applicants are getting them.

@8461student yup, my daughter who’s already been accepted has been receiving them. They are marketing emails - one of them mentioned “We thank you for your continued interest in LMU. If anyone you know is also considering applying, kindly remind them of the January 15, 2020 application deadline” and they’ve been putting the same messages on social media. Just trying to keep themselves top of mind for those already accepted and let you know things about them they think are positive in case you didn’t know - and also put the idea in your head to tell a friend to apply before the RD deadline!

Any ideas when we’ll hear about merit aid? Applied/admitted EA.

@cuppasbux I believe around the end of the month or the first week in February should be when merit awards are sent out.

@amsunshine Thank you!

@cuppasbux Here’s a link showing the timing of financial aid information being released https://financialaid.lmu.edu/prospectivestudents/applyingforaid/enteringfall2020/#d.en.251932

My son was accepted as part of EA. We’re curious to see what type of aid package he might be offered. I know that the website says “early February,” but I noticed that the date posted for ED applicants knowing was “late December,” but I saw posts from ED applicants who knew their package amount in mid-December, two weeks earlier than the posted date. Does anyone know whether EA might hear earlier, too? More like late January than early February?
