Most likely!
As far as accounting goes, LMU has a great program. We know at least 3 graduates of the accounting program who have gone on to do very well for themselves in the L.A. area. USC is probably very strong as well, but it would be interesting to hear whether USC graduates have any significant job placement advantages over LMU.
My son has been accepted to SCU & LMU for accounting and has applied to USC as well. I might be a little biased as I received my MBA from USC but the Leventhal School of Accounting at USC is a top 10 accounting school. I did some research and you can’t beat USC for accounting in SoCal. However, LMU is well regarded in the field as well. Also, getting accepted into USC is extremely difficult as evidenced by last years acceptance rate of 11% for 70,000 applicants. Just an opinion…
@Whiskey6920 I think USC may be a reach school for me. My UC capped gpa is 4.0 and SAT is 1400. I have pretty good EC’s. The concern my parents and I have for USC is that the cost of attendance may be too high (as compared to LMU) if I am not getting a good merit scholarship from USC.
@erynpanda, USC is my son’s first choice school but is definitely a reach for him. Hoping legacy helps even if it’s a little. I don’t think you can go wrong with LMU accounting. I hear that all the Big 4 accounting firms recruit there. Besides, I am a firm believer that the school doesn’t define you, it’s what you do at school that defines you. Good luck to you whichever school you attend!
How is the Business Admin. Entrepreneurship department? My DC is looking at for his major.
@Mopep, LMU’s entrepreneurship program is one of its highest ranked.
17 in the 2020 ranking.
My son just got a letter from the Rector of the LMU Jesuit Community. The letter was dated December 20 while he got deferred on December 17.
Some ending words are like this “… I will be very happy if the next holiday season finds you a member of the LMU community”
Did anyone get such a letter (real letter from a mailbox not from an email:)? Any comments about this?
Happy holidays!
@LotusSeeds2020 my daughter received that letter also, but she was admitted EA.
Thank you for the information. I think it made sense for admitted students to get a letter like this. I am wondering if they also sent out such letters to rejected applicants -
Did anyone else get an invitation to apply for LMU’s honors program? Is it sent to all accepted students?
Dd20 just got the invitation. Don’t know if it’s sent to all accepted students or not.
Anyone have any sense when financial aid information might come out? I know from reading CC forums that LMU has a reputation of sending detailed info. out later than others. Curious if anyone had an idea.
@blackcat2 @amsunshine was the invite to apply for Honors College sent by email or regular mail?
@JD7777 Here’s a link showing the timing of financial aid information being released https://financialaid.lmu.edu/prospectivestudents/applyingforaid/enteringfall2020/#d.en.251932
My D20 did not receive an invite to honors, at least not yet. She has been auto-admitted or invited to apply for honors at all other schools but maybe didn’t make the cut here? Did the invite come via snail mail or email?
Thank you. Helpful. Appreciate it.
I received an email telling me the honors program application just opened and invited me to apply.
It was an email – have your dc check all email folders, including spam. This one came in my dd’s “updates” folder.
