LMU Early Application class of 2024

@JD7777 They have different dates depending on ED or EA. For ED, their website said mid-December. I would prefer not to say the amount. I will say it was not a full ride but substantially higher than the 12,500 min. My d was bummed that she didn’t get the presidential scholarship because it has direct admittance to the honors program. But, the amount she received in merit aid was also substantially higher than the $25k for the presidential scholarship. So, she just has to suck it up and write some more essays

How did you find out? Was it an email or on the portal? Really hoping for my financial aid to come through so I can commit to a college. Already got my Chapman financial aid (which I wasn’t expecting till January) and I’m really hoping for a good amount from LMU!

@cheerprima18 if you scroll through the recent replies – you will see that the notification came by email and this was for an ED applicant. EA applicants will not be notified about aid until next month.

@amsunshine I did see that, just curious as to where financial aid will be sent!

@bewellsw Congratulations on your D’s scholarship package! Do you mind sharing her stat?

Thanks! I understand. Great news for you student!!!

@erynpanda take a look at my post #125

Ok so I got deferred and they said they want to see my fall grades. I just absolutely aced all my finals and my cumulative GPA is going up a pretty size able amount(from 3.4 to ~3.5). That, combined with my 1410 SAT and lots of ECs and varsity sports, I feel a lot more confident in my ability to get accepted after the defer. I hope LMU accepts me. Applied Marketing from Saint Louis, MO.

@Ismail4112 Good luck to you!

@erynpanda film production so…makes sense. it’s competitive as hell. im sad about it though

Do you know if they give rejection to the film production applicants? I am wondering if “defer” for film production really means “rejection” :frowning:

@LotusSeeds2020 I remember last year there were a couple people who posted that they’d been deferred for film production and then they got admitted during RD.

Thank you for your reply!

Finally received a “welcome” email from LMU. It said “welcome again” although it’s the first email D20 has received. Oops.

My daughter just got that email also @KBTDPT and also was the first email she received. We watched the welcome video and the dean mentioned a list of foundational films and television that the faculty would give the students but that it was also on their website. We haven’t found it on the website - anyone else know where that list is?

I haven’t checked my portal yet (it’s finals week) but I got the email update at 5:26 and I got the congratulations email from LMU school of film and television today! I applied for film production! I will check this weekend to see the official letter, but I am so happy!
I have above average sat scores and GPA, I am a minority, a lot of EC and awards and over 30 past film work, and I did the summer screen writing program for LMU as a junior.
Anyone else for film production?
I hope all of the best for the defers, best of luck!
GO LMU!

Hello, I got accepted to the accounting program in LMU. My parents suggested me to also apply for USC. I know USC’s ranking is higher and its reputation is probably better than LMU. I noticed USC’s tuition is $10k more than LMU per year. Question - what are the things that LMU have the edge over USC?

@erynpanda, integrity for one thing. USC is knee deep in the college admissions scandal.

I also much prefer LMU’s campus and neighborhood over USC’s.

@erynpanda LMU definitely provides more opportunities and smaller class sizes, allowing you to have closer relationships with professors.

I was told USC provides great networking to its alumni. Can I assume the same for LMU?
