Wow! Congratulations to your D! I guess this means they probably all went out. My DD is going to be so sad. She was really hoping to attend LMU. Hope the weekend goes well for your D!
Can anyone clarify Scholars Weekend? Is it only for students being considered for certain top scholarships?
I got deferred EA for Marketing. My school sent my fall transcripts(my fall grades boosted my GPA a full .1 so I’m pretty happy with my overall application now) anyone know when we’ll hear back? Thanks.
I also would love to know what Scholars Weekend is! D20 has not received anything about it so must not have qualified?

The Trustee Scholarship is LMU’s most prestigious academic scholarship. Trustee Scholars receive scholarship and grant assistance equal to full tuition, room and board for four years. Ten Trustee Scholarships are offered annually. Selection is extremely competitive and includes an on campus interview with faculty during our annual Scholars Weekend. Students invited to Scholars Weekend will be notified in late January and early February.
That is exciting! Can you share if your daughter applied Early Decision or Early Action?

My D received an email today – she was awarded the Presidential Scholarship! She is very excited as this includes auto honors admission along with other benefits. 
Still waiting to find out financial aid award, though…

Take this with a grain of salt… I spoke to a student working in Admissions at LMU today who told me that invitations to the Scholars Weekend were mailed via snail mail and that email notifications follow the snail mail at the date “we think you have already received the letter.” She said that students who are invited should see the letter sometime this week. After talking with her and doing some web searches, it sounds that the size of the group invited to this weekend is very small, like 30. (An article from the LMU paper said 28 kids were invited in 2016).
@JD7777 Thanks for that. I wonder what their plan is for other merit scholarships though - wonder why only one person reported getting an email about that today. Are they sending those out on a rolling basis? Confusing.
I just want to get the full financial aid package so we know whether or not we should visit again, which will help my son make his decision. I thought when he applied early action it would be no problem to know where to visit for spring break. This dragging on is frustrating. I have to buy plane tickets!

I wonder if there is any point to anyone calling LMU? @JD7777 it sounds like you asked specifically about the Scholars Weekend invites - but not about other merit awards for those admitted EA or about financial aid? As I mentioned upthread, last year’s thread showed people started getting merit notifications January 31 and Feb 1 and 2 so hopefully we are only one to three days away from hearing about merit. Though lucky @amsunshine already heard!
@CAtransplant I did contact my D’s admission counselor yesterday by email to ask about when financial aid awards would become available. She did not give me super specific information, but indicated financial aid awards, including merit awards and need based aid, would be snail mailed to applicants in “early February”. She said after the hard copies are mailed, the portals will be updated.
So not super specific, as I said before. My guess is that the Trustee and Presidential notices are going out this week on a semi-rolling basis (I have no idea, just guessing from how it’s happening so far). Then, sometime over the next week or two will be when we get the actual financial aid packages, which should include other merit awards, it sounds like. I am anxious to get that package, too, to get a clearer picture of exactly where we stand.
Thanks @amsunshine - I have USPS informed delivery and nothing from LMU is supposed to be coming today but hopefully soon - we are all anxious to have these numbers!
Does not receiving an email mean you aren’t getting a scholarship, or just for the top scholarships? Has anyone gotten an email for anything less than trustees?
I received an email last night notifying me that I was chosen as a Presidential Scholar for $25,000. Does that mean I did not get chosen to interview for the Trustee? Am I still eligible for the Aruppe Scholarship or any other merit aid though?
I emailed my counselor on Tuesday and she told me that they are sending financial packages in the mail either today and tomorrow. Then, they are updating the portals next Tuesday or Wednesday.
