LMU to USC, is this absurd?

Is it absurd to get my BA at LMU, and then apply to USC for a the MPW (Masters Professional Writing) graduate school?

(Of course assumed I graduated top honors at LMU, and have great letters of rec, and internship&work experience in field, as well as an amazing portfolio.)

I’ve had friends tell me this is absurd, and USC wont even look at LMU transfer students. Well I guess I won’t really be transferring since my BA is done, but that it’s extremely hard and unlikely to be accepted into a graduate school at USC if one did not receive their BA from USC.

Any thoughts?

I don’t see why that would be the case… USC has to take people that didn’t get their bachelor’s from USC. I think your friends are wrong.

Why would you be considered a transfer student if you were applying to a masters program?

Yes, I phrased that incorrectly, I suppose I wouldn’t be a transfer student per-se. But I mean to ask would a graduate school at USC even consider someone who got their BA at LMU, or do graduate schools at USC pretty much only take people who get their BA at USC. Sorry about the my linguistic screw-up.
