Loading on AP classes at the last minute

Hi, I’m just wondering if taking an extra 4 AP classes next year will affect my chances for colleges. What I’m interested in trying to shift my rank from 17 up to possibly salutarian/valedictorian. Will colleges recognize this or do you think it might be too late?

better late than never

I would strongly recommend against it - take 2 APs or so, and have a less stressful senior year. It will not make a huge difference if you jump from average schedule for 3 years to tough schedule senior year, but it will kill you if your grades drop. Plus, you will be thanking me come January/February next year when the senioritis sets in at full throttle (and it will - it always does)

Well, I have already taken 6 APs, and am taking 6 more this year. I’m not really that challenged to tell you the truth, and I figure I can still enjoy senior year even with more AP courses. The current val has about 14 APs, so if I can get 3 more APs Im wondering if that will make me val.

I went from one AP one year to 5 AP’s the next.

It’s not that hard. AP’s are actually easier, because the kids in the classes are more willing to do the work and there is more focus.

However, it may look like you were trying to cram a bunch of goodies for the colleges to see at the last minute.
