Loans at UVM?

<p>I am an international student applying this year. I know international students are not eligible for financial aid.</p>

International undergraduate applicants to the University of Vermont, who are out-of-state residents, are considered for these merit scholarships based upon all materials and information supplied with the application for admission:</p>

International Distinction Scholarship $10,000
International Excellence Scholarship $8,000
International Merit Scholarship $5,000
International Recognition Scholarship $2,000 </p>

<p>•Admitted students are selected for these scholarships based on their academic achievements, and those selected will receive one of the scholarships based on the level of their achievements.
•No separate applications are required for these merit scholarships.
•Each scholarship is awarded for four years (eight semesters) at the amount indicated.
•Students determined to be Vermont residents are not eligible for these scholarships, and should see the section below for applicable scholarship information.
•A cumulative 2.5 grade point average and enrollment in 12 or more credits per semester is required to remain eligible for these scholarships.

<p>I really don’t have a problem for that as I have a GPA of 4.0 and has earned 4 distinction credits at A Levels.</p>

<p>So can I pay UVM the rest by taking loans?</p>

<p>You could, but why would you want to take out loans for undergrad? UVM is not known for generous merit aid, so I would not count on it, either, even if you match the criteria for being eligible for consideration. Make sure you have a plan B school that you can afford.</p>
