Loans before Law School

I’m planning on taking some summer courses, but I will need to take out a loan for them (roughly $12,000). Since I will not be able to pay this off pretty much until I have my first job after law school, will my taking out this load affect my ability to secure a loan for law school?

Thanks.

Bump. Bump. Bump.

It shouldn’t, though you might want to consult with the financial aid office of the law schools you are considering. At least with respect to federal loans (i.e. Stafford), the loan maximum thresholds are increased for graduate and professional students. If you have good credit, many lenders will be happy to loan you the funds you will need to go to law school, even if you have student loans from undergrad still outstanding.

The practical realities of paying off a huge mound of student loan debt after you graduate from law school is another matter entirely . . .

Hahaha, of course. Thank you:)
