Econ is in the School of Arts and Sciences at Providence, not the business school.
Yes, I’m well aware of which school it’s in, but it’s certainly a related major. The point is that Providence has invested heavily in their Business School with a new building, new facilities, etc. They are obviously marketing themselves to students with that interest. They have also upgraded opportunities in their Economics Department. Regardless of which school it’s in, I think this is no coincidence. I almost mentioned all of this this in my original post, but in the interests of brevity I left it out. Thanks for pointing out the need for clarification.
Yes, but regardless of how the school feels about his fit, the OP has reservations. He mentioned that he was disappointed that they didn’t offer him more money. I don’t know why he feels that way, but my point is that given that’s what he wants, there’s a way to address that.
Until OP responds to the many questions that have been asked on this thread, it doesn’t seem there is any basis to ask for more FA (mistake on forms, larger offer from peer school). In the absence of those things OP can still ask for more $, but I can’t imagine it would result in more than a couple of thousand dollars, maybe $5K max. Hopefully OP will return and let us know about affordability.
I completely agree. The OP says that he can afford the costs, so I don’t know what the issue is. Maybe he just wants to know that he’s a valued, priority student. We just don’t know. Another student I’m working with, recently appealed his award from a SLAC. The school bumped the award up by a mere $2500 and that made all the difference. You never know. Each situation can have unique circumstances.
