I’ve recently been deferred from 2 universities, and it seems like everyone in the threads are discussing writing LOCIs…Is it worth it to do this? I’ve never heard of one until now, but I would think nothing could really change the game for you now, unless it was something major. What do you think?
Yes, it is worth it. It certainly does not hurt. If you think that there is even a small chance of it helping, why would you not write a letter?
I think it really depends on the college; colleges that consider “Level of applicant’s interest” as indicated on their Common Data Set are more likely to value them than colleges that do not consider interest. But even at the latter, sending one certainly won’t hurt. Sending one every week might.
