lofting beds??

my friends were asking me this and I had no idea what it is…is it putting ur beds overhead so that u have a space beneath it? I saw this in one of the dorms. Does Stanford do this already in the rooms or do u have to do it urself and how do u go about doing this

Basically, it just means moving the height of the bed. You have to do it yourself, there’ll be lofting tools available when you move in. It’s pretty self explanatory–take out some screws, move, put the screws back in…

Not totally true. Housing can loft your bed for you - just give them a call.

When you get to Stanford, your bed will be set at the middle position (of 3 possible positions). As an alternative to lofting, you can just raise your bed up a little bit (like 5 inches). This will allow you to put your dresser under the bed so you have more room space.

Lofting requires putting your bed on another set of legs. If you loft your bed, you could put your desk or a futon or something under there.

How soon does the Housing respond to the “Loft” request?

Depends. As you can imagine, they are generally pretty busy during the first couple weeks of school, so it could take any where from a day up to a week. Most people end up doing it themselves because, especially as freshman, they want to get their whole set up completed as quickly as possible and with a big bed taking up a lot of space, you can’t do much.
