Instead there is a screen with a message like “This page can’t be displayed” and words to the effect that it’s the website’s fault (for using an out-dated security system). It happens every few weeks. Is it the website’s fault? and can CC fix it? I want to know whether I can expect to use CC forums in the future.
Hi there…sorry for the inconvenience. Is this happening on a particular browser, or have you seen it on multiple browsers? Odd that it isn’t consistent. If you can let me know the browser I can ask the team what the source of this message might be.
Anyone else seeing this?
It has happened on both Mozilla Firefox and Internet Explorer.
When it has happened I have tried several times over the course of a day to bring up the Log In screen without succeeding. Then a few days later I find I CAN get the Log In screen. I have had three episodes like this.
Below are passages extracted from a couple messages I sent to CC (through online Contact) during the latest episode:
"Today when I click Log In I don’t get the Log In screen, but instead get a screen that says this:
" 'The connection to the server was reset while the page was loading.
The page you are trying to view cannot be shown because the authenticity of the received data could not be verified.
Please contact the website owners to inform them of this problem.' "
As explained at https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/tls-error-reports:
"When a website you visit attempts to secure communication between your computer and the website, Firefox cross-checks this attempt to ensure that the certificate and the method the website is using are actually secure.
“Some websites try using out-dated (no longer secure) TLS mechanisms in an attempt to secure your connection. Firefox protects you by preventing navigation to such sites if there is a problem in securely establishing a connection. When this happens, you will see an error page with the option to report the error to Mozilla.”
Thanks for the info. I’ve honestly not heard of this happening before. I don’t handle the messages submitted via the contact form, but can check with them to see if they have communicated at all with the vendor. I assume you aren’t getting these messages on other websites you visit (?)
