London restaurant recommendations.....

Back to Basics for fish : UK.COM;
It’s so good, fresh, and beautifully presented that you’d almost think you’re in France.

The oldest and most elegant Indian restaurant in London is Veraswamy (spelled phonetically)–we had a leisurely, impeccably served 3 hour meal there. Can’t recommend it highly enough.

Also Archipelago–a funky vibe with interesting, unusual dishes. Great decor and creative, deliciously prepared food.

I live in London and here are some of my favorites (with nearest tube)

Baltic - Polish/East European (Southwark)
Moro - Spanish/Moroccan (Angel) MY ABSOLUTE FAVORITE!
The Woodlands - Indian vegetarian (Picadilly)
Mango Tree - Thai (Victoria)
Saltyard - tapas (Goodge St/Tottenham Court Rd)
Santa Maria del Sur - Argentinian steak (Battersea Park/Queenstown Road)
Lahore Kebab House - Indian (Whitechapel)
Inn the Park - European (St James’s Park/Charing Cross/Embankment)
La Cave - French (London Bridge) - the restaurant is expensive, but the wine bar is excellent and you can have a selection of cheeses, chacuterie and bread with your wine

Someone already mentioned it - Pret A Manger!

For great Italian–the River Cafe London. I loved the cookbook and had it before we ate there. It didn’t disappoint.
