Hi, I’ve never been on CC before, but I really need to know where I stand amongst other people. UCSD is my dream school, and I really want to get in any way I can. I have no qualms about doing a 2 year TAG program with a community college, and I don’t think I’ll need any financial aid. Please be honest about my chances and ways I can improve. I’m a tough girl, I can take the critique.

HS GPA (unweighted, 10-11): 3.5
HS GPA (unweighted, 9-11): 3.64
HS GPA (weighted, 10-11): 3.80

AP/honors classes I’ve taken:
AP USH (A)
AP Chem (A)
AP Calc AB (B)
H Chem (C,B)
H Pre-Calc (B,B)

SATs:

SAT I: 2110

SAT II: going to take Math II, and Chem in May and June. My diagnostics show 780, and 700 respectively, but I plan to study and get higher scores.

November Senior year, I’m going to take another to get an even 3 tests. Still haven’t decided if I should take another science to show my interest in the STEM field, or a history/literature test to show that I am versatile in my academics. Help on that decision would be appreciated as well.

ACT:
Studying for April 15th test.

AP:
Have yet to take any AP Tests

Other:

The seniors I know are telling me that my resume is more suited to privates who weight ECs higher than grades and testing scores, but UCSD has everything I need. It’s relatively close to my home, and family means a lot to me. And this might seem naive, but one of my close friends and I have always wanted to go here together, and I really want to make that dream happen. Practicality in mind, it’s also considerably cheaper than private schools, its Engineering College has a good ranking, and my parents have been in the tech field for decades and say it’s name carries a lot of weight in Silicon Valley.

The Senior year college program I’m doing is my “safety net”, so if I don’t get into UCSD or any other good UCs, I can spend only one year past high school in a TAG program, instead of the usual 2 years.

Please let me know what my chances are and what I can do to boost those chances. Thanks!
