long sleeved career type top

I see someone beat me to the Wintersilk recommendation. I really like the cowlneck shirt.

Thanks!! I had never heard of wintersilks or Foxcroft. Should I be cleaning instead of looking at clothes on the internet? -yes, I should be

My SisIL introduced me to Foxcroft and finding them at NRack. She was a dentist and asked one of her patients how she was always looking so fresh in he nice button down shirts and the patient introduced her to Foxcroft.

I can’t bring myself to pay full price so live NRack, tho of course selection is hit and miss.

A week or so ago I might have said Chico’s has some nice, inexpensive, long sleeved shirts good for layering. But I went in there yesterday and it seemed like the clothes were truly “old lady” clothes. Please don’t tell me I’m an old lady at 55

Loft and Banana Republic have nice tops you can put under a sweater or jacket.

@veruca , nordstrom rack has lots of eilee fisher.

Thanks for the pointer to Eileen Fisher at Nordstrom Rack. Three silk Ts at 61% off are on their way to me.

Why do they need to be long sleeved? Is it really cold in the church?

I ask because I wear cardigans and dress pants to the office every day in the winter, and the tops I wear under them are almost always short sleeved. I avoid sleeveless shells because they don’t protect the cardigan from sweat and deodorant stains, but whenever I can find something shell-like with short sleeves, I buy it. I like short sleeves better than long ones because the sleeves don’t bunch up under the cardigan.

Will think about short. I wanted long because sometimes I take the cardigan off (I am in the south) so it doesn’t get too cold.
But maybe I should get over the “its winter so I need long sleeves” idea. Maybe it is habit

Ann Taylor has some heavier weight jersey knit tops that are good for layering. They are fairly fitted so look professional under jackets and sweaters. And comfy, too.

That explains it! I was thinking turtle neck, plus crew neck sweater, plus Land’s End thermaskin under that! I’m always cold.

By the way, I learned about the Land’s End thermaskin on a similar thread on CC several years ago. Thanks to whoever shared that info. It has changed my cold and shivery life!

Around here I could do cardigan and shirt without an overcoat much of the time. Overcoats don’t usually come into play until January.

Costco is selling 32 degree heat garments on coupon for $7 apiece top and bottom. They’re very light and wash well. Similar garments at other places cost 2-3x more.
