Long Term Study

Hi,
I am thinking about working with a group on a long-term, multi-university clinical trial which is expected to finish in 2010 for my Master’s. But I will be graduating in 2009. Does anyone know if my name will appear as a co-author once the paper is published a couple of years after I leave.

Thanks for your timely feedbacks.

Yup, there wouldn’t be a problem putting your name on the paper after you’ve left the school. That happens fairly frequently in academia, so sometimes you’ll see a note next to an author’s name giving his/her current address as well as former group affiliation.

Yeah, since most people don’t start any meaningful research projects until junior/senior year, and the whole submission/review process (after the entire project is done) can take more than a year, it happens pretty often.
