I'm looking for a cheaper alternative to a bicycle. Does anyone use a longboard at Berkeley for transportation? Do they frequently get stolen? If I attend a lecture, where would I put it? I'm assuming that I can't just take it into the lecture hall with me as the seats are quite crowded.

people on longboards are annoying

Some people use longboards around campus, but it's not that great. There are bumps and such everywhere. The city is even worse unless you just take the streets, in which case, good luck not getting hit by a car. They won't get stolen so long as you keep them with you at all times. Taking them into a lecture hall is fine. Just stick them on the floor beneath your feet, or propped up against the seat next to you. Most lectures don't ever really get that packed.
