longchamp tote

Calling all of our fashion divas for advice.

I have decided to purchase a large longchamp tote. I want to buy just one. I know I could go with basic black - but I was looking at the bilberry and thinking that is actually a pretty neutral color.

I have black coats, brown coats, and a short camel jacket. Weigh in on this very important topic!

I have a large red Longchamp tote that I’ve been using for around five or six years. I LOVE it and plan to replace it (in a different color, just for variety) when this one finally wears out.

I assume you meant blueberry?? Sounds like a great, neutral color to me.

BTW, I have washed mine – leather straps and all – in the washing machine, then hung it to dry. Looks like new.

The bilberry is beautiful - it will look great with brown, black and camel. I have several Longchamp totes - so does my daughter - and none are black! Black is boring in this particular bag because it comes in so many nice colors. The bilberry is muted enough to be sophisticated, but it adds a little visual interest too. Nice choice.

What exactly is bilberry? A cardovan red, a cranberry, true red? Look at your wardrobe. If this is your one and only bag, or the one you use on a daily basis, does it compliment or pop your outfit? If yes, go for the color. If it classes with 1/3 of your clothes (and you do not have an alternative) go safe with the black.

I think this bag will look great with the colors of your wardrobe. Go for it! Life is to short to wear dull colors!

I must be behind…
I’d never heard of this line. I looked up this bag, in this color. I LOVE it! With the coats you mentioned I think the bilberry will be great.
I may ask for one myself for the holidays! Thanks!!

Both my daughter and I have numerous Longchamp totes. We love them because of their (light) weights. Get the one with the larger handle so you can sling it on your shoulder.

I bought one at a store in Munich airport, where they are much cheaper. Of course, the prices of the fake ones can’t be beat in Hong Kong or Asia.

I bought a Longchamp backpack purse 15 years ago and, after a lot of use, still looks great. It is green. I receive lots of compliments on it. I’d go with a nice color, rather than black. I have found very little that I can’t use the green with.

I love Longchamp as does my DD. The bilberry is beautiful and neutral. I love, love, love the red and bought their beautiful luggage set in it.

Wasn’t surprised when a recent Vanity Fair article called this the new preppy handbag, theyre very popular as book bags on campuses.

Buy on bay, good deals!

I’ll take the Vanity Fair article even one step further. Would you believe I use mine to take my stuff to the gym in?

However, mine is boring… beige.

I love the bilberry color!

D and I share several Longchamps and one is a large (bilberry). She has used it for a book bag and I have used it as a carryon tote. The color goes with everything.

I agree, buy the large tote with the longer straps.

VeryHappy – thanks for the heads up about cleaning in a washing machine…… didn’t know you could do that.

I wash them by spraying on spray and wash, scrubbing and then a quick rinse with a hose, but I do not do the leather.

OK, so now I know: The bilberry color is a deep purple. I love it. Go for it.

I’ve also used mine to carry my office laptop.

Thanks everyone - the order has been placed. I loved the color but since the bag is going to be my solo bag this winter I wanted to hear what others thought.

Very Happy - I want to use it with my laptop - I will put it in a protective case.

I needed a lighthearted discussion tonight. I decided I had enough heavy things going on in my life and I needed something fun. Thanks for your input!

I want to hear how much you love it when it arrives!!

I carry a teeny-tiny mini-purse with nothing in it but my credit cards, some cash, a lip gloss, my cell phone, and a pair of reading glasses. So everything else – the spare shoes, the book I’m reading, my makeup, files from work, my sandwich for the day – goes in the tote. Makes it easy to separate the essentials from the other stuff. And when I’m carrying a lot of other things (remember I live in another state during the week!), I just tuck the mini-purse in the tote.

That color looks more like aubergine to me- bilberry is near black with a slight shade of purple.

I like the color & have some sweaters that are aubergine & a coach/michael green bag- I don’t do well with most nylon although I did use le sportsac bags for a long time & I have a nylon tote from REI that I use for a gym bag.

I’m sure you will enjoy it. Use it in good health.

Thanks. Can’t wait for it to arrive. I have been schlepping back and forth to my mom’s, to the hospital, etc., and I look forward to having something sleek and fashionable to store my laptop, kindle, and medical notebook that I am carrying all the time. I have a lovely briefcase, but I also just needed to treat myself.

good for you!
:)

wnp, I’m sure you will love your new lightweight bag! I too ditched my heavy computer bag and now use a nylon Burberry tote (yay, Burberry outlet!) which fits one of these perfectly (yay, Tumi outlet!):

I highly recommend getting a similar sleeve for your computer if you do not already have one.
