I just finished applying to colleges. Here’s my complete list:

San Jose State University
San Diego State University
California Polytechnical Intstitue-San Louis Obispo
University of California-Berkeley
University of California-Los Angeles
University of California-San Diego
University of California-Davis
University of California-Santa Barbara
University of California-Irvine
University of California-Santa Cruz
University of Chicago
Cornell University
Santa Clara University
Northeastern University
University of Southern California
Northeastern University
Boston University
New York University
Boston College
Stanford University
Columbia University
University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill
University of Michigan-Ann Arbor
Tufts University
Brown University

My Christmas present this year was the permission to apply to more colleges. That was also doubled as my birthday present. I was born in June…

WTH man, i thought my 14 i was applying to was a lot lol. Atleast i had a lot of free apps.
GOOD LUCK!! and FAFSA, if youre applying, is gonna be a pain you can only list 10 schools at a time!

I disaree that it maxmizes chances for admission. Applying to 25 schools only maximizes the chances of making mistakes and omissions on applications as well as minimizing the chance of producing the best product possible for all submittals.

What makes you think you will be more able to narrow your list down after you recieve perhaps a dozen or more acceptances?

The sad thing is that most of these schools are a high reach for this guy. Although he is hispanic, his ECs are generic, GPA is 3.5, and SAT is barely 2000. It looks like he took a lot of non-honors classes too. A lot of money lost. Considering practically all of these scores average 700+ SAT subject test scores, his acceptance seems low just from that.

His subject test scores:
U.S. History: 670
Lit: 580
Math 2: 580

wait, what is the point of this thread? to brag about having applied to so many?
Congrats on being done though…I just finished now, it feels awesome!! :D

@Wallrus75, there was no need to link his stats and disregard his chances after he’s done applying (not to mention rub a rejection in…), at this point it’s no longer constructive, just mean-spirited…

Actually I found his stats very telling… If he had looked at his own chances reasonably he wouldn’t have applied to so many schools. If you look at the list it’s 1/2 reasonable 1/2 out of reach. I see more “I’m overestimating myself” than “not really thinking seriously about finding the right place.” But at least he has tons of schools that he actually might get into, unlike some posters that have only HYPSM. Nonetheless, app fee wasted at:

University of California-Berkeley
University of California-Los Angeles
University of Chicago
Cornell University
University of Southern California
Stanford University
Columbia University
University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill
University of Michigan-Ann Arbor
Tufts University
Brown University

I’ve known kids with worse stats who got into the above schools. Difference being that they weren’t confident enough to apply to more than one or two.
