MicahelNKat - How generous of you to offer those sheets to everyone who has this long road ahead of them. Before you wrote that, I was thinking “Man, he could make money by selling these sheets to CCers!” Very kind of you, I’m sure there will be a lot of requests!

Thank you SO much Michaelnkat for the worksheets and spreadsheets.
You are a blessing!

I have a story to back-up what was said earlier about cleaning up any My Space photos or information. My S made a visit in February to a school he was accepted to. At the buffet table during lunch, a school official came up to him in line and addressed him by name. He asked how she knew who he was since they’d not been introducted. She replied that she had checked out his My Space pages and that was part of her job as the school communications liason. My S wasn’t concerned about his My Space pages, but promptly returned to his tablemates to suggest they double-check their pages.

The forms and worksheets that Michael is offering to e-mail everyone are great! The college evaluation worksheet is my favorite. It really addresses the quality of life issues on campus. I will definitely be using many of his ideas! How kind of you to take the time to do this for all of us.

To those who have requested them, I’ll be getting them out at night when I’m home.

Allow me to publicly thank you Michael, for so generously making all of your charts available to those of us coming up next year. I am sure that they will all be so helpful. This Board is terrific, thanks to all the wonderful parents and students who give of your time and experience. What a great resource!

I would have prepared my monologue more and maybe practiced my second song with live accompaniment…by hey, i got in ED to my first choice so I’m not sweating it…I must’ve done something right…lol

If she could do it again, whenever a school asked her to list the other schools that she was applying to, I would advise her NOT list them, just say “I haven’t finalized my list, but at this point, XXX (where ever you are filling out the form) school is my first choice.” In my opinion, this is private information and it can never hurt to have a school think that they are your first choice.

^very true!! never let them know that you are keeping your options open.

bsb, that’s the beauty of ED! Congrats to you. Unfortunately, not everyone is in the position to try to go ED at his or her favorite school because of finances. A lot of kids have to wait to see what offers come in so they can compare them. But ED sure is the way to go (if it’s offered!) if you are very sure of one school. It’s wonderful that you were able to do that and I know you are going to love it at Syracuse. (I grew up there … please buy yourself some really sturdy, warm boots because there is a lot of SNOW! It was a magical place for kids in winter.)

I agree with Sarahsmom, we would NOT have listed the other schools that D applied to - my daughter’s list was a smorgasbord of options and so much could have been read into her choices. We did provide the list, but she/we felt uncomfortable with answering this question because I don’t understand its relevance (even after reading the post on this web site).

I’m a new member. Does anyone have experience with the summer programs? Does going to a summer program help you to get into the Fall program. Partcularly interested in CAP 21 and Northwestern and CMU.

LA welcome to this forum, tons of great information! There is a specific thread that deals with the various summer programs. As far as helping you get into the college, well…I’ll let others weigh in on that one, as my S never did a summer program, lots of summer theater, but not one of the programs or camps.

How do I find the summer program thread? Sorry, I’m still trying to figure out how to take advantage of this great tool!

LAStageMom, there is a huge thread for summer programs. I will bump it up for you! Also, there is information on the separate threads that were set up for the different colleges. Welcome!

I actually don’t need to “bump” anything, because the summer program thread is already on the top of this forum just check under the IMPORTANT
threads underneath the “acceptances”. Have fun!

Do asearch for Summer College or Summer Program in the MT section of the board and the threads should be listed.

Thanks all for your help. I found the Summer Program thread and checked out the CAP 21 notes (most of them were from people going to the other CAP 21 program (not associated with NYU).

Micheal, I am going to be asking you for that excel sheet. Ironically, I’ve been thinking about starting one for my D to help organize for the upcoming path…I’m so glad to hear someone did it b4 me!

To Dancermom: Can you tell me more about the coaches? How do I get in touch with them and what is there specialties. I would like to get some help picking appropriate material for my D.

Just send me an email and I will be glad to forward them to you. It’s more than 1 - too much info and too many phases to this process to get it all on one!
