Looking for a Bad Prep School with Need-blind financial aid

If anyone knows any, feel free to post your list.
I am looking for easy ones (high admittance rate) along with generous financial aid. If it is a bad school, it doesn’t really matter.

Not sure I understand how financial aid can be awarded “need-blind”. Schools only award financial aid if they “see” you have financial need. Merit-based scholarships (if that is what you mean) are not financial aid.

Why would anyone want to go to a “bad” school?

Are you a girl or a boy?

@danceaway Hmm this should be rather intriguing, My parents said I could only go to a school that gives me full FA, well I just finished 7th grade and am a boy, so got any schools? BTW im applying for 9th grade.

@OP: Stick to one thread for the same question. I answered your question here which is where you should carry on your dialogue since there’s already some advice there: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/prep-school-admissions/1197186-how-does-work.html

That said, I submit that you’d do well to ignore all the advice that encourages/assists you in the search for a U.S. boarding school for your brother (for reasons stated in the thread above).

I’m going to a school next year with a full scholarship and it’s a pretty good school, but they have a ton of money for FA and merit scholarships, and they are looking for white kids. But it’s an all-girls school so… sorry.

@danceaway,

There is a school in the U.S. that is “looking for white kids”? Isn’t that illlegal?

illegal? if that school is missing caucasians in that they’re under-represented, then they’re simply trying to diversify.
i think it’s linden hall-- it’s a girl’s school with lots of international/over-seas students (asians), so i think they’re looking for students of different ethnicities

This is a funny thread.

Lol, i dont think it would be illegal if it was privately owned. Just my opinion, and im not a lawyer

^^ Nailhead, meet Hammer! Very funny, indeed. Bad school, need-blind financial aid, desperately seeking white kids. It’s got a little bit of everything.

So…as to the illegal or not question: if they’re receiving any sort of federal assistance (like, say, a tax exemption) then, yes, it would be unlawful for a private institution to discriminate against minority students (or any protected/suspect class). And, typically speaking, if a school was “looking for white kids” then that’s just a different way of saying we’re “not looking for people of color, etc.” and that would be unlawful. In the case of Linden Hall, however, a U.S. attorney might not want to pick that fight because – from what I’ve heard – they can pull out their yearbook or school photos and show a lot more color and diversity than most of the schools that are affirmatively looking for minority students. In other words, it might be very difficult to see their actual student composition and then build the case that “looking for white kids” amounts to admission practices that discriminate against minorities.

This scenario in which “minority-schools” (such as HBCUs) can actively and openly seek out white students is, if you will, the flip side to reverse discrimination.

I probably shouldn’t have bumped this…

White kids? When did I ever ask about white kids?

You probably shouldn’t have talked at all.
Thank you!

Who said you asked? See post #6 in this thread. And #7. And #8. And, implicitly, #10.

That’s really funny… it IS Linden Hall. yep.
