Looking for A Restaurant Suggestion for New Paltz, NY

Will be in that general area. Any suggestions?

There are so many great restaurants in the area. Are you looking for anything specific - casual, ethnic, kid friendly, romantic, outdoor dining, upscale? Since my son has attended the university we have tried many places and are eager to try more. This Sunday we are going to try the Mother’s day brunch at Mohonk Mountain House. :)

Lilymoon, thanks. I prefer to send a PM to you about specifics. Do go ahead and mention a few places that you have enjoyed, if you’d like. I am sure others visiting the area would love to know! I’ll send a PM to you right now!

We have liked:

The Gilded Otter (it’s a micro-brewery - casual with good food)

Gaudeltos (sp?) Seafood

Harvest Cafe (we had lunch there- really good)

Lots of good pizza joints

Have not tried the restaurant at Mohonk - don’t like to spend that kind of money. But we love hiking up there! Gorgeous!

New Paltz also has some small eclectic restaurants that offer fine dining (expensive) - but we didn’t try them. Lots of great choices though…great little town.

toneranger, thank you.

If you’re in that area there are a number of wineries you can visit. Unfortunately, our favorite, Rivendall apparently has had to close it’s doors due to a zoning fight. A winery is not an agricultural business according to their local zoning board!

mathmom, that will the be the plan actually. We are familiar with some of the wineries. We have been to some of them. We like Brotherhood in Washingtonville. Thanks.

Just thought I’d post a dining guide put together by the university. Here is the link:
