Our Bosch was a lemon. Will never get another one.
I have a Miele and I like it. It is very quiet and it scrubs my pots and pans very well. My kitchen is right next to living room. I have it running right now and I can’t really hear it.
@kiddie We probably have the same Bosch panel front DW. I didn’t think I’d like the top cutlery rack, but it’s my favorite thing about it. Unloading (silverware drawer is adjacent) is a breeze. Especially if like items are grouped together.
3 kids, a sponge and some Dawn. I’ve gotten a great cleaning every night for a good 20+ years?
I have had multiple kitchen aids, including one that caught fire. If you can I suggest you go into the store and see if your dishes fit in between the tines or whatever. We were considering another brand but our plates wouldn’t fit easily.
We had a Miele in our old house and loved it. Shortly after moving into this house, we replaced the Bosch with a Miele. The top rack for cutlery is my favorite feature. It frees up so much room on the bottom rack.
Update: DH is hoping the dishwasher can be brought back to life with some help from KitchenAid support. He is going to give it a try in the morning.
The dishwasher died as he was programming the load so he thinks it could just be an issue with the control panel. I have my fingers crossed as I don’t want to be shopping for an appliance right now and not very comfortable at the thought of some one in my kitchen either to instal or repair.
If his solution doesn’t work we will be going shopping tomorrow afternoon.
Thanks to everyone for all the recommendations and input. I really appreciate the help I get here.
Try turning off the circuit breaker your dishwasher is on. I once had to do that for my oven. I remember I had to keep it off for a set amount of time - like 15 minutes. Worth a try.
We also have. Bosch and love it. We replaced our fridge, stove and dishwasher about 6 years ago. The only one we like is the Bosch dishwasher. Cleans very well…and it’s so quiet, the only way we know it’s running is there is a red light that shines on the floor when it’s on.
I think you can get a lemon with any brand. It’s sort of the luck of the draw.
When we built our house, instead of getting a cheaper model we upgraded and spent another $100 to get a better/quieter model (since kitchen is open to family room / tv). Best decision ever.
I can’t recommend our specific model/brand because thing have probably changed since we bought this Maytag in 1993. Yes, it’s almost 27 years old. Over the years I’ve had the repairman visit a few times, I think all minor-ish things (still over $100/visit but still worthwhile). And last month hubby just replaced the door springs (and cutlery basket). I’m in no hurry to get a newer model, with pricier electronics… until I have to. And then I will refer to this thread
A PSA: get your D/Ws now. As I said a couple of months ago, with all this home cooking, there would be a run on kitchen appliances. Apparently, on some areas of the country, lumber is in such short supply that lumberyards only sell to pros. Everyone and their mother is renovating their “nests”!
When I saw the title I couldn’t wait to come in here and do a Bosch commercial. We have an open floor plan and replaced our old GE with a low end Bosch. For the first two weeks I was constantly looking to make sure it was running. It’s so quiet! We’ve had it 4-5 years I think, and I love it.
I’m happy with my Bosch. It’s six years old now. It was a floor model so I got a good deal, though in retrospect I kind of wish I’d gone one model fancier with the full extra tray on top. It seems to have much more room inside than the previous dishwasher which was a Kenmore and had lasted fifteen years.
We replaced our KitchenAid with a Bosch about 6 years ago - very quiet and works well. Most of my friends have Bosch. As noted up thread though, any brand can have a lemon.
Wow… lots more Bosch models than I realized, with big price range. I’d be tempted to get a Bosch when the time comes but lol… still a lot of choices. I would not mind paying more for higher end/quieter, but would there be “more gizmos to break”?

I have a 800 series of the Bosch. I truly like the silverware top drawer. Easy to separate meat from dairy and they get clean. So quiet.
Oh… silverware top drawer - I might like that.
The top silverware tray used to be the exclusive privilege of Miele. Guess the clock on the patent has ran out… but Miele has new top drawer designs, even more functional.

I’d get one of the 40 or 42 decibel dishwashers. Mine is a 40 decibel Bosch. I love it. Something with a 50 decibel rating will be 10X as loud.
When my Miele was first installed, the guy told me that this is the last dishwasher I"ll every need and he was right. It’s 20 years old and absolutely no service calls ever needed. Several years ago the Intake/Drain light was on and I ran the dishwasher with a Miele Dishwasher Conditioner and it has worked fine ever since.
Most of the ladies in my book club have Miele dishwashers as well and we all agree that it’s one of the best appliances we own.
You will hear a lot of Bosch recommendations because it is a more common brand.
