Beginning in 2015, Huang began footing the bill for his employees’ children to go to college and a year later offered to pay up to $20,000 for employees’ weddings. While funding these major life events has certainly garnered Boxed its share of headlines (including ours), it also speaks to the thornier issue of how companies are attempting to attract and keep the best workers. At a time when the war for talent is especially fierce, being able to offer more than a fair salary and two weeks’ vacation is crucial.

Apparently this offer has been in effect for a few years. Sweet.

I looked at it the other way- that they are targeting young folks without kids nearing college

If an employer offers well-subsidized medical insurance, that can be an extremely valuable benefit for older employees just short of Medicare age, since medical insurance for such employees can be very expensive (and perhaps unavailable to those with pre-existing conditions under some scenarios if ACA is repealed).

If his employees are young, he may be paying $20K towards soem weddings, but probablynot to many yet have college aged kids. Wonder if you have to work there for a certain length of time before these benefits kick in?
