I’m applying to: (Reaches to Safeties)
UNC
Notre Dame
UVA
Wake Forest
UF
Elon
Depauw
Florida State
Indiana
Butler

What are my chances at those schools? Should I take the ACT in September? Should I take SAT subject tests? Since I’m planning on retaking the SAT again in October and I’d like to apply to some of my top schools early action I’m not sure whether I should take the SAT or subjects tests first and then send the other one later.

Break down your Sat for us and we will help if we can…

leadership?

For the SAT I received 680 on reading, 590 on math, and 680 on writing. I boosted my math score by about 60 points the second time I took the SAT so I really hope I can bring it up a little bit more. As for leadership, I’ve been involved in clubs but haven’t held a position until this year when I will be secretary for NHS. I might be a captain for my cross-country team too.

Good for you… You’ve worked hard. Most students take the SAT II shortly after finishing the associated class so your a little behind. The 3 schools on your list that I can talk intellegently about are…
UNC - So hard to get into OOS that I would have to say unlikely and they will want at least 2 SAT II. But I would encourage you to call and try to get the adcom from your area to give you a little advice (if they are your #1 school). They tend to be a what are your numbers, numbers, numbers school.

Wake and Elon would likely both accept you but they are very different schools and I would want you to look beyond the numbers and see what fits you best.

You might want to post more about what you want to study and the type of school experience you are looking for.

I really wanted to take the SAT subject tests but my dad thought it was a waste of money considering I was taking AP exams anyways. I’ll try to take them in November. I’m interested in psychology, communications, english, and history. I’m not a big fan of math but I’m pretty good at science- my parents would like me to be a dermatologist or dentist. I would like a medium or big sized school. I’d want there to be lots of things to do and lots of participation in athletics. I’m also considering joining a sorority.

“I would like a medium or big sized school”.

both WF and Elon have under 5000 undergrads and in todays numbers they would be considered kind of small.
