Looking for lawyer referral for dd in Oklahoma

I can’t believe I am asking this question, but can anyone here help me? My dd and her boyfriend were traveling and got stopped in Oklahoma. They had a small amount of pot in car. They were not arrested, but they have to have attorney appear for them. (We live in another state). Drug laws there are very severe even for first time misdemeanor, so this is quite serious. Scared and just trying to figure out where to start.

I don’t, but if I were you I’d start by calling your hometown lawyer whom you’ve used for real estate closings, wills, etc. S/He should know how to find someone, through Martindale-Hubbell, old law school friends, or some other attorney networking thing.

Where in Oklahoma? (I.e., nearest city).

Tulsa or OKC

I had this problem when DD did 90 in a 65 mph zone in Delaware. I googled; found 2 I liked; talked to both; chose one. I’m sure you’ve tried this route already. Just googled for you (I’m your UB friend wink wink):

thanks for the link, and thanks for the idea to come here!

It’s a nice group of caring parents. Poke around, and you’ll find lots of us just trying to help our kids through all the stuff they get involved with. Best of luck to you and your DD!

You can check with the bar association in the city they were stopped in. Oklahoma is a big place and you want someone local. There will be many who advertise this specialty.

Towns with near the Colorado borders are known for this, and look for cars with Colorado plates.

Cross-posting because I realized this was probably the more appropriate forum.
