Looking for medical help in DC area - Physician who can order IV infusions at an infusion center

A friend of mine has a local PCP and an ordering physician in Baltimore, both without privileges at DC area hospitals. She doesn’t want to have to commute all the way to Baltimore for this.

I would think her current physicians could refer her to someone.

Check to see if they have an in home option. A nurse will come to insert the IV and they have these little elastic balls the act like the infusion pump. It’s pretty slick if available. And for us it was actually cheaper. Good luck.

Some urgent care facilities offer infusion service. Look into some of those.

Doesn’t the infusion center have medical staff? - her MD can fax the ‘orders’ for the staff to prescribe.

When I look online, there are several infusion places serving the DC area. I don’t understand the problem. Why can’t the MD send the orders to one of those centers?

Here’s some Q&A about infusions. This may be of help.

Sorry I don’t know enough to be of more help.

I’ve had to get infusions while traveling and the docs just sent my script to a close infusion center and I get it done there. This is a pretty common thing. Her doc and/or the infusion center she wants to use should have info on the standard procedure to do this.

Also agree on the home infusions. I did those for about a year and they were way more convenient (and yes, cheaper for my insurance company) than the in-center ones.

Thanks for the info. I will pass it on.
