I bought an HP mini-210 during the summer before college and it has turned out to be a bit of crap to me. I have to spend so much time waiting for websites/videos/programs to load that it gets so frustrating when my professor has already started lecturing and I’m waiting for my note-taking program to start. I also can’t watch simple 480 pixel videos on youtube without having it look like a slideshow. Though, the netbook can be a little efficient when I have only one thing on at the same time, I’m someone that loves multitasking and have a short attention span.

So I’m looking to get new laptop recommendations here based on my preferences:

Price range is 500-2000 dollars (I’m willing to shell out a lot of money).
I’m an engineering student so I will do most notes on paper/pen so portability doesn’t matter.
I would like to bring my laptop outside in the sun to do work and to other people’s rooms.
Must be able to handle a lot of things at once (video, spotify, google drive, etc.)
Must last me through college (I’m a college freshmen now).
Must be incredibly quick.

I’m looking to get a macbook pro, but I’m scared of the stigma that comes with it. :(

If I do spend most of my checking account (~2500 dollars) on a laptop, I’m hoping it’s worth it.
