<p>It’s not really an essay so I can just post it here. I am just trying to make sure it sounds alright. (It’s for an industrial design school in a city; edited for privacy.)</p>
<p>" It took years to discover the field of design. However, Ive always had the qualities of a designer and builder, from my childhood obsession with Legos, to a project I am currently working on for an Invention-Convention competition.
While design is my main focus, I still have a wide range of interests, so I would much prefer to choose a university with a variety of courses available.
As my application states, I am from just outside of MY TOWN, a mere 100000 miles from COLLEGE TOWN. Residents of COLLEGE TOWN no doubt hold the same values of hard work and that are a staple of the GEOGRAPHICAL REGION. While I may disagree in regards to football or sports teams, COLLEGE TOWN feels very familiar to me as a resident of MY TOWN. I feel that my similarities with the area will help me be more successful academically.
As much as I like MY TOWN and the REGION, I still want to see the world. I have been to New York City, London, and Toronto, all of which can be considered capitals of the world. These experiences have sparked an interest in cultures other than my own, which makes COLLEGE a perfect fit for me. The urban campus is a melting pot itself, and the study abroad program will also enable me to experience other cities and countries not as a tourist, but rather as a student.
For all of these reasons, I feel that I would be an excellent addition to COLLEGE.</p>
