If you are open to Macalester, you might consider University of St. Thomas which is just a few blocks away in the same cute neighborhood. It is officially a small university due to a few grad programs, but its vibe is very undergraduate focused/LAC. Was previously D3 in MIAC conference, but recently went D1. Sporty vibe, not artsy or political. Solid education, especially in business, social work, psychology. ABET engineering. Very strong alumni networks that does extend beyond the Midwest. Great merit, admissions safety. Free cross registration with other nearby schools including Macalester.
