im looking for a type transmitter micrphone. um, wireless. the ones where you can attach one to your collar and have it transmit whatever audio to a receiver and the receiver can record the sounds in digital format. i don’t know if such items exists, but does anyone knows of fsomething like that ?

What you’re looking for is a wireless lapel or lavalier mic. Just Google it…

i think that’s what it is. but can it record in digital format, like mp3 palyers? the ones i see seem to be able to play back sound like a speaker would.

What kind of project you are working on?

Are you doing some public speaking? Creating a short video clip with sound?

If you’re doing just a sound recording, a wireless mic and receiver can be hooked up to a DAT recorder (Digital Audio Tape). Output the DAT tape to your PC sound card. You can find cheap software that can convert your RAW audio file to an MP3 file.

A good basic primer on sound recording conversion to a pc (for language instructors, but the principles are the same).

i’m doing a short one-hour film. the sound is for the actors’ dialogues. i think i will have to look around fro DAT. not too sure if they sell them here. but mighty thanks for your help! :)

If you’re using a camcorder, you could output your video/audio to a video capture card on your pc. Many video capture cards accept S-Video/Composite video/Firewire/USB connectors. Audio is patched through a standard mini plug. And the cards usually come with video editing software to output your work to a dvd or a video cd.

Good luck!

true, that would work, but then the voices will sound very far-off and echoey. and my camera angle is too far away (eg cameraman standing on a bridge taking a footage of people below) then you hear nothing. that is why i am looking for a mic or something. i want to make the voices sound as if they’re next to the camera. :)

Your wireless mic receiver has a mini plug output which will plug into your digital camcorder. This will over-ride your camcorder’s built-in mic. All you need to do is get a patch cord.

Since you’re shooting outdoors, you’ll need to find a way to power your wireless mic’s receiver…
