My son recently landed an internship in Torrance but is having trouble finding a safe, appropriate sublet or short term lease. He doesn’t have a car and is hoping to bike to his job. Ideally, he’d like to find something between Torrance and Redondo Beach. He’s looked at AirBnB, FurnishedFinder, Facebook, etc. So many scams!! USC and UCLA are too far to bike from and there aren’t really any other schools with dorms.

If usc or ucla would work, he can take the light rail or the bus as close as he can get and use his bike once he arrives.
Cal state Dominguez hills, Loyola Marymount might be options.
Maybe try Facebook. There was somebody I saw join one of my city’s local FB groups to find housing leads for her daughter’s summer internship. I PM’d her to encourage adding area and mention a long shot idea for rental room in my neighborhood. Sounds like she found a good possiblity a few days later.
CSUDH is a predominately local students who live at home and commute. LMU is much too far away.
@HMom16 Torrance is a big city that is not easily bikeable. Can you share what section of Torrance his internship is in?

Its near the intersection of Vermont and Knox so close to the 405/110 junction. He is adamant about not getting a car so hoping to find something bikeable or walkable. He is open to public transit as long as it doesn’t involve a lot of transfers. Thanks, in advance, for any leads…

That is an okay area to work but not where he would want to live. I would look at the Torrance Transit map and look for a location close to a bus stop.
My son tried to register on that site but apparently your company has to set up an account first. There is DEFINITELY a need for it.
