<p>I was looking for a parents prospective on how they are dealing with their d/s going so far away from home. Also seeking advise on best way to get stuff there.</p>
<p>From a parent of a current sophmore, I empathize, although I am not as far away as you are. But, I spoke to my son on the phone or on the computer often. It is a period of adjustment for everyone, but you learn to deal. This was a second one, so it was a little easier because I knew what to expect, but it was certainly sad at times. But believe me, this is the way its supposed to be…so you learn to accept it.
As far as getting things there, I know alot of kids shipped things. I can also say, that what helped us was to shop at our local Bed, Bath and Beyond (if you have one near you). You place an order in your local store,and when you get to Providence, they have it all ready for you to take.This saved alot of time and money with shipping as well as space in a car etc. Also, speak to the roommate when you get your assignment, so you don’t duplicate things-split things up. If you have any other questions, please feel free to ask-I have a son not a daughter, and am only 4-5 hrs away from Brown, but I know what you are feeling.</p>
