I started Weight Watchers the Points Plus and I am looking to make some desserts for Super Bowl Sunday. Does anyone have any good desserts from WW points plus that they have made before. I made one, lets just say it ended up being thrown out
My H says diets don’t apply on Super Bowl Sunday - the quintessential American Holiday.
We are starving ourselves and being diligent exercising all this week, so we can feast on Sunday. Go Pats!
But if WW works for you, good luck with it.
My SIL made an excellent vanilla pound cake for New Year’s - I think the recipe is here -

@3puppies - Haha too funny! I normally do not diet on holidays, but I just started on this diet a week 1/2 ago. I lost 5.2 pds and hate to put it back. Of cource my hubby announced that we must have beer and munchies and a-run to Costco this weekend is a must for the stuff! Boy am I in trouble
Thanks for the link!
This angel food cake made with crushed pineapple is it. Delicious…and easy to make.

For the super bowl…put out some bowls of veggies and fruits. No points.
Great thread! Although it will be hopeless for me - I’ll be on a cruise ship watching the game.
Go Pats!
Someone at work made that pineapple/angel food dessert - good but not super interesting.
What else are you having on the menu? You could also just have smaller portions of other food items and allow yourself to have a small piece of a “regular” dessert.
Avoid desserts with cool whip - it may save you calories but it’s awful for you! Again, use the real stuff, but less of it.
@abasket H wanted chicken wings, dip and chips, potato skins, etc…All the bad food. I was thinking of getting a shrimp try and veggie tray for myself
Dieting is so hard!!!
@MaineLonghorn - Wow have a great cruise!!! I love cruising. Taking my dad for his 80th birthday on a cruise beginning of May.
@Nurse001, great! My dad turns 80 at the end of April!
Are there are any dip recipes for fruit on the Points Plus program? You could treat yourself to some “exotic” fruits for dessert - thumper’s dessert sounds good to me (especially if you added the coconut on top before baking) but I love angel food.
I think it’s great you are trying hard to stick to your plan. It can be really difficult when your spouse isn’t completely on board.
I should add…that cake is delicious with fruit on top…strawberries or peaches. Whatever.
@thumper1 That dessert does sound good as I love pineapple. I might give it a try. I love cake…well lets just say anything that has carbs in it:)
I believe you can also make it in a jelly roll pan. That’s how I always made it. It ended up being about 1 1/2 inches high…and could be cut into nice rectangles or squares. Much better than a tube pan!
I don’t know how many points you are looking for (to not exceed) but this looks pretty good:

I would say just don’t have desert, but if you do want an easy sweet tooth fixer, make sugar free jello with some berries in it. Don’t buy boxed jello but get gelatin and use your choice of cal free mio/propel etc flavouring or similar. As you make it DIY it can be made stiffer to adjust for the fresh fruit. Make it in a fancy glass. Sugar free jello is just handy to have in the fridge for when you just need a little something.
There used to be a WW dessert using Cool Whip and pumpkin. I suppose it was fat-free Cool Whip and a can of pumpkin, maybe with a little cinnamon. Gingersnaps were good with it, as well as Granny Smith apples. I once had a lot of friends on WW but I don’t think I ever made it myself.
If it was me, I’d either save up some points or earn extra points through exercise to indulge in some good dessert or I would do some kind of fresh fruit/berry platter or fruit kabobs with a yogurt based dip of some kind.
Right, or try fasting the day before and saving your calories for the day of the event. If you haven’t tried fasting, or at least very low calories on some days, look up 5:2, Jason Fung, Krista Varady ( ADF). There are huge strides in this area. Add in real exercise and you have real flexibility.
TRather than making something, I’d just buy a box of the WW frozen treats, which are to die for, lower calorie or not. Alternately, angel food cake, low cal Cool Whip and berries are a good way to go. Though normally am not a Cool Whip fan, for a few months of WW, it can be helpful for a sweet tooth.
Weight Watchers has shifted from Points Plus to a system called SmartPoints, which much more severely penalizes sugar than Points Plus did. The difference in points for the same recipe in the two systems can be drastic, especially if the recipe includes sugar.
So if you’re expecting any current Weight Watchers members at your event and you want them to be able to eat the dessert, perhaps it would be a good idea to find out the SmartPoints values of the recipes you’re considering rather than just the Points Plus values.
